The game published on this page will only be updated with critical bug fixes, whereas the patreon version will have new features and experimental gameplay.
Introduction
In this game, you can engage in a Japanese language conversation with a cute anime girl. You can use either text or speech to talk to her, and she will respond back in text and speech. There are several tools to assist you in case you are learning the language, such as live dictionary and text display options.
This game doesn’t actually require you to speak Japanese; you can also use English to talk to her. So give it a try if you’re just curious about the concept. :)
Background
This game project is in early access. The aim is to implement these conversation mechanics into a modern and vibrant Japan simulator, whose full 3D world will be inspired by the likes of Katamari Damacy and WarioWare. I plan to release a second game that showcases a snippet of the simulation gameplay, this game is scheduled to release in Q2 of 2025. More information can be found on my Patreon page.
With just a small monthly donation to my Patreon, you will receive access to updated builds of this game as well as exclusive behind the scenes footage, dev streams and Q&A sessions. I may also be available for freelance Unity and 3D work; please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
Current limitations / bugs
Please note that this project is developed by one person on their spare time. There will be quality errors in this build, these will be addressed in updated builds that are distributed through a patron-exclusive Discord channel.
- Some conjugations are not segmented properly. For instance, taberaremasen gets split into taberareru - masu even though it should be purely taberareru.
- The game’s dictionary is powered by a lightweight version of JMDict that consists of only the most common words, thus some words won’t receive live dictionary information. The full version takes a while to load and I would rather have something more efficient as game sessions will generally be short.
- Also for the sake of efficiency, the game uses a TMPro font atlas that consists of most daily use Kanji’s. As a result, some rare characters may be printed as squares.
Information on AI usage
The game uses ChatGPT n the backend to generate conversations, translations and feedback.
The game does not use AI generated art assets.
Information on OpenAI service charges
The game uses the following services provided by OpenAPI: ChatGPT 4o-mini and whisper-1. The cost of running the game is perceived to be very low.
Please note that while attempts have been made to make the game as cost efficient as possible, there is still room for improvement. This will be addressed in future updates.
